Argan Oil

Argan oil has been part of traditional Moroccan medicine since centuries. All times it is considered as an elixir which preserves health and beauty as well. The arganie (Argania spinosa) is one of the oldest trees in the world. About 25 million years ago it became a specialist in semi-arid regions. An arganie is able to live for 400 years. It grows only in the Moroccan region of Souss-Massa-Draa, otherwise it is globally extinct. Because of its uniqueness, the area was declared as a biosphere reservation and is under the protection of the UNESCO as World Heritage. The argan tree bears fruits every 2 years. About 30 kg fruit can be harvested per argan tree. From the amount of these almonds 1 litre of pure oil can be extracted. (To comparison: 1 litre of olive oil requires 5-10 kg of olives).

Argan oil is suitable for a fine salad vinaigrette, as well as for sweets and desserts and also very good for carpaccio of salmon or tuna.
